PAK vs AFG 2021: Afghanistan Cricket Team Started Practice in Kabul

Afghanistan national cricket team started practice in Kabul with the Taliban seizing power. The cricketers were very enthusiastic about the practice of the national team in any situation in the country. They are holding a training camp in Kabul ahead of the Pakistan series.

The Afghan team started training on Wednesday (August 18th). The Afghan team will travel to Sri Lanka to play a series against Pakistan once the air traffic is normal. Hamid Shinwari, chief executive officer of the Afghan Board, confirmed the matter.

Prior to that, Afghanistan was under Taliban rule from 1996-2001. At that time there was a ban on sports. Since the Taliban came to power again, there has been uncertainty about cricket and other sports. However, the chief executive said, there is no problem with cricket. The Taliban have never had a problem with cricket before. Still won’t. The Taliban have said there were no accidents in cricket.

Shinwari did not say anything about girls ‘cricket even though it was played on boys’ cricket ground. However, he said that the answer will be found in a few days.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is quite excited about the boys’ camp. “All the cricketers in the camp are very excited,” he said. The team will go to Sri Lanka as soon as the air communication is right. We are working on this.

Afghanistan will play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in September. The series was supposed to be held in the United Arab Emirates but was moved to Sri Lanka. The series was largely canceled due to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the T20 World Cup being held in the UAE.

Besides the international series, the ACB has also released the schedule of domestic cricket. The domestic T20 tournament will be held from September 10 this year. Although six teams took part in the previous events, it will be 6 from this year’s event.

The ACB said in a statement that they are committed to taking cricket forward. They are also hopeful that cricket will move forward soon as India-Pakistan relations are good.
