JP Duminy as South African Expert Advisor in T20 World Cup 2021
Cricket South Africa (CSA) today appointed Justin Simmons and JP Duminy as an expert advisor to lead the Proteas national team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021. JP Duminy will go on a World Cup campaign in the UAE with Quinton de Kock and Temba Babuma .
On September 9, Temba Bavuma was captained by a 15-member squad of Proteas, with a traveling reserve of three. Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, and Chris Morris did not get a place in the T20 World Cup 2021 Squad. But the good news is for the Protea supporters. Former batsman JP Duminy has been appointed as a ‘specialist consultant’. He will be accompanied by North West Dragons batting coach Justin Simmons.
The pair will fill the vacancy on a temporary basis due to the resignation of assistant coach Enoch NKW. Cricket South Africa director Grimm Smith said in the context of the appointment of JP Duminy and Justin,
‘I would like to thank the Imperial Lions and the North West Dragons for giving JP and Justin the opportunity to work with the South African team. Where they are currently employed as batting coaches.
‘Justin worked with the Proteas in the first part of the Sri Lanka tour. He has already built a good working relationship with the players. JP is quite suitable for T20 cricket. His record as a player speaks volumes. And for the team, he will bring the skills of the team in all three branches of batting, bowling, and fielding.
