Punjab Kings Signed Nathan Ellis in IPL 2021

IPL 2021: Punjab Kings have signed Nathan Ellis in their Squad to play in IPL 14

The 14th edition of the IPL has been postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic. The suspended part of the IPL  14 will be played from September 19 this year. However, Punjab Kings have signed Nathan Ellis will play for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021.

Australian pacer Riley Meredith was injured the day before the Bangladesh tour. As his replacement, Nathan Ellis got a chance in the team in the T20 series match against Bangladesh. Ellis got a chance to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by scoring a hat-trick in his debut match.

Aussie pacers Zhai Richardson and Riley Meredith were scheduled to play for the Punjab Kings. However, Meredith has been ruled out of the IPL due to injury and Zhai Richardson will not play in the IPL due to personal reasons. So the Punjab Kings have selected Nathan Ellis as their replacement.

Punjab Kings chief executive Satish Menon has confirmed the inclusion of Nathan Ellis in the squad. “We didn’t know about Zhai and Riley’s fitness until yesterday (Thursday, August 19),” he said. Alice has been included in the squad as a substitute cricketer. Another replacement cricketer will be announced in the next couple of days.

Nathan Ellis took 14 wickets for the Hobart Hurricanes last season at the Big Bash. After that, he got a chance to tour West Indies and Bangladesh. Although he did not make his debut in the West Indies series, he played for Ajit in the Bangladesh series.

In the absence of Riley Meredith, Ellis became the first cricketer to score a hat-trick in his T20I debut. He will also be a stand-by cricketer in the Australia squad for the World Cup. Ellis’ dream of playing in the World Cup can also be fulfilled if he can perform well in the IPL. Only time will tell whether he will get a chance in the main team of the World Cup.
