Shakib Will Not Play in CPL 2021 Due to New Zealand Series

Shakib Will Not Play in CPL 2021 Due to New Zealand Series

The ninth edition of the Caribbean Premier League CPL 2021 starts on August 26 (Thursday). Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is likely to miss CPL 2021 because, at the same time, Shakib will play a five-match T20 series against New Zealand at home.

Shakib, the best all-rounder in T20 cricket, was to play for Jamaica Tallawas in the CPL. Jamaica has picked Australian spin all-rounder Chris Green instead of Shakib. Bangladesh will play 5-T20 matches against New Zealand from September 1 to September 10. The CPL will end on September 15. As a result, Jamaica will take the field without Shakib. Jamaica picked Shakib from the draft in May this year.

Australian spin all-rounder Chris Green, who has replaced Shakib in the squad, has taken 85 runs and taken 96 wickets in 115 T20s. He has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, Sydney Thunders in Big Bash, and Multan Sultans in PSL. Green has also played for Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica.
