Indian Premier League: Shubman Gill To Play Rest of the IPL 2021
India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Shubman Gill is recovering from a leg injury and is expected to play rest of the IPL 2021. According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he has been in rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for two weeks and will be available before the IPL.
“We are very optimistic about getting him in the IPL,” said Venki Mysore, chief executive of Kolkata Knight Riders, a team led by Shubman Gill of the IPL.
Shubman returned home from England in July after suffering a left leg injury. He has since been rehabilitated at the NCA earlier this month. He is carefully performing various fitness-related functions.
He is giving 80 percent of his body weight on two legs while running on the machine. Putting less pressure on the lower part of the body. His fitness is now satisfactory and his practice will improve further in the future, a BCCI source told CricketBuzz.
‘She is not in pain now. Gradually his hard work will increase. Slow walking will be taken to run 2-3 days a week. We firmly believe that he can be completely healed in a month. ‘
KKR will leave for Abu Dhabi on August 27. Although he could not go with his teammates, Shubman Gill is likely to join the team in the first week of September.
Meanwhile, Indian left-arm pacer Thangarasu Natarajan will join Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sunrisers will leave for Dubai on August 31. He was in rehabilitation for 3 months at the NCA after knee surgery in April. The NCA has cleared him for playing in the IPL.
“We have Natarajan in the squad and we will take him to Dubai on August 31,” a Sunrisers official told CricketBuzz.
Although Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood did not get it in the 1st round, Chennai Super Kings will get him in the 2nd round. Chennai Chief Executive Officer informed the cricketer about the matter.
In the 1st episode, his compatriot Jason Behrendorf joined him instead of his injury. He will now have to return to the country as per IPL rules. All teams have to submit the list of players by August 20.
