Sri Lanka Squad for T20 World Cup 2021

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has named a 15-member squad for this year’s T20 World Cup 2021. Spinner Maheesh Theekshana has got a new place in it. Friday (September 10) was the last day to announce the squad, according to the ICC deadline. But Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) did not announce the team within the stipulated time. Although the names of the cricketers in the squad have already been revealed.

Suddenly, Mahesh Theekshana got a place in Sri Lanka’s World Cup squad. The SLC has also unexpectedly picked Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Kamindu Mendis. Surprisingly, Nuan Pradeep did not get a place in the squad. The Sri Lankan selectors have put him on standby. In addition to Nuwan Pradeep, Pulina Tharanga, Lahiru Madushanka and Lahiru Kumara are on standby.

Niroshan Dickwella, Kushal Mendis, and Danushka Gunathilaka were left out of the squad due to the board’s ban. Dashun Shanaka will lead Sri Lanka in the World Cup. Sri Lanka will play a match against Namibia on October 17 this year. Sri Lanka’s group also includes Ireland and the Netherlands.
