Indian Premier League: Washington Sundar Ruled out of IPL 2021 Due to Finger Injury
The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed in May this year due to a coronavirus epidemic. The suspended part of the IPL will be played again in September after removing all the fears. Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar ruled out from the remaining part of the IPL 2021 due to a finger injury that is to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
The IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore was supposed to play for Washington Sundar. However, Washington Sundar dropped out due to a finger injury. Akashdwip, the fast bowler of the RCB team, got the opportunity to replace him. He was the net bowler of the Bangalore team.
Sundar took 3 wickets in 6 matches in the first part of IPL in April-May this year. The spinner has taken 19 wickets in 32 matches since joining the IPL team in Bangalore in 2016.
Akashdwip, who got a chance to replace Washington Sundar, was the second-highest wicket-taker for the Bengal team in the last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has taken 21 wickets in 15 Twenty20s in his career.
Bangalore has replaced five cricketers ahead of the suspended part of the IPL. Earlier, Wanindu Hasaranga got a place in the team instead of Australia’s Adam Jumper. Finn Allen, Daniel Sams, and Ken Richardson have also been replaced by Tim David, Dushmant Chamira, and George Garton.
Bangalore has also changed the coaching panel in the UAE part of the IPL. Simon Katich has resigned due to personal reasons. Mike Hesson will be the head coach of Bangalore instead.
