Match Preview
The co-hosts West Indies will take on Papua New Guinea in the doubleheader match of the tournament. West Indies has showcased their impressive form against mighty Australia. West Indies smashed 257 runs in the warm-up game against Australia and won the match by 35 runs.
Johnson Charles has come back to form just in time. Despite having difficulty in the Indian T20 League, captain Rovman Powell was still able to hit fifty runs in the warm-up match.
Brandon King, Sherfane Rutherford, and Shimron Hetmyer are the strongest hard-hitting batters in the squad. Andre Russell, who just won the IPL 2024 with Kolkata, is going to be an important all-around player for the Windies.
However, despite losing both of their warm-up matches, Papua New Guinea put in a lot of effort. With 14 victories in their previous 20 games, they had an outstanding record going into the competition.
