ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Format

Format

As the number of teams increases in the tournament, the format gets a bit changed. A total of 20 teams will take part in the tournament, which will be divided into 4 groups, and each group will contain 5 teams.

The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the next stage. The qualifier round will have eight teams, which will be divided into two groups. Each group will have four teams.

The top two teams from the qualifier round will qualify for the semi-final of the tournament, the teams winning the semifinal will proceed into the final of the tournament and the final match will decide the champions of the T20 World Cup.

Group Stage

The first stage of the tournament will be played as a group match. Each team will play its group matches, and the top 2 teams from each four groups will proceed to the next phase of the event.

Super 8 Stage

The Second Phase of the tournament includes the Super 8 where four qualifier teams qualifying from the First Round will be matched with the Eight top-ranked T20 Teams who will play in the knockout stage. These eight teams will be divided into two Groups A and B.

Knockout Stage

The final phase of the ICC T20 World Cup includes the Knockout stage where the Top Four Teams at the Points table will battle for the Semi-final and final match of the ICC T20 WC 2024 to be known as the Champions.

The Knockout Stage includes 4-Matches, which feature 2 Semi-Final Matches, one third Position, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Final Match.
